\nThe Company
\nMy client is an East Midlands based independent construction contractor with longstanding customer relationships stretching back over two decades. These projects consist of New Builds and Refurbishments, primarily in the residential and commercial sectors, carried out on a Design & Build basis.
\nThe Quality Control Building Inspector Role
\nReporting to the Construction Director the successful this role the Quality Manager, is in effect an in-house Building Inspector come Clerk of Works, ensuring the quality of the day to day construction work packages being undertaken, both by the client as the main contractor and the various external subcontractors. Typical projects are valued from approximately £3m to £8m, predominantly based in the East Midlands and Yorkshire regions.
\nThis person will be office based going out to sites, must be organised and self-motivated to succeed. The successful candidate will be the on-site champion of their quality assurance policy, and actively work towards delivering a defect-free construction aligned with client expectations and all regulatory standards met.
\nKey Roles & Responsibilities of the Quality Manager role include:
\nMaintain and develop existing project-specific Inspection and audits
\nCoordinate and conduct pre-works, in-progress, and completion inspections across all trades involved in project
\nMonitor subcontractor workmanship and compliance with project designs, specifications and regulations.
\nRaise, track, and close out any non-conformances and the corrective actions required by contractors.
\nProduce photographic inspection reports and site quality records
\nMaintain a Quality Register, tracking trends and repeat issues
\nContribute to weekly and monthly quality reporting
\nSupport external audits, building control inspections, client led inspections and ISO 9001 audits
\nPromote continuous improvement and lessons learned across the site team, Contracts Manager, Site manager, design manager etc.
\nThe Successful Quality Manager:
\nDegree, HNC/HND in Construction, Civil Engineering, or related field
\nMinimum 5 years' quality management experience with a UK main contractor
\nKnowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and quality auditing processes
\nCSCS Black card
\nExperience preparing or managing reports
\nConfident in site-based tools for audits
\nExcellent written and verbal communication
\nFull UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites
\nDesirable:
\nLead Auditor (ISO 9001) qualification
\nSMSTS certified
\nCQI or CIOB membership
\nExperience on multi room projects; residential care homes, hospitals, or commercial buildings
