Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer

\n Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis. This role is based at their state-of-the-art facility in Gosport, where innovative technologies are at the forefront of their mission to empower and protect lives.

• Act as a Senior Engineer, combining subject matter expertise and sound engineering judgement to solve problems.
\n
• Break down complex tasks and execute the planned schedule of work.
\n
• Collaborate with Project Management to task and control work conducted by technical teams.
\n
• Mentor others to enhance knowledge in mechanical and structural engineering within the broader team.
\n
• Encourage collaboration across technical teams and work with Safety Engineering to ensure compliance with regulations.
\n
• Develop joint technical strategies with partner organisations to expand customer offerings.
\n
• Ensure all projects are conducted safely, identifying hazards and addressing unsafe practices.
\n
• Apply consistent governance across technical programmes and act as an independent reviewer where suitable.
\n

\n
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering, including design processes and manufacturing principles.
\n
• Thorough understanding of safety regulations and applicable regulatory requirements.
\n
• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
\n
• Experience designing structures to recognised industry standards (Maritime, Defence, or Civil).
\n
• Skilled in designing both metallic and composite structures.
\n
• Competent in performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on complex structures and systems.
\n
• BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent demonstrable experience.
\n
