Void HGV Chargehand

We are looking for a Void HGV Chargehand to join Derby City Council's Street Cleansing Void Service. You will lead and support a dedicated team delivering essential property clearance, cleaning and waste management services for Derby Homes and other customers.Our Void Service helps bring empty properties back to a safe, clean and lettable standard through work including house and garden clearances, wallpaper stripping and property cleaning. Location: Streetpride, Derby City Council Street Cleansing, Derby, DE24 8UZ Hours: Monday Thursday 08:00-16:00, Friday 08:00-15:30 Pay Rate: £15.54 per hour\n
Key Responsibilities\n
\n

\n
• Lead, motivate and supervise Void Operatives on site
\n
• Carry out property clearances, cleaning and waste management duties.
\n
• Safely drive and operate HGV vehicles
\n
• Complete daily vehicle, equipment and safety inspections.
\n
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments and COSHH requirements
\n
• Monitor team performance and quality of completed work
\n

Complete worksheets, inspection forms and operational records accurately.\n
\nReport accidents, incidents, defects and unsafe working practices\n
\nSupport the training and development of new employees\n
\nAssist with bulky waste collections and safe disposal of hazardous materials.\n
\nSupport Waste Transfer Station operations when required\n
About You\n
\n

\n
• Valid HGV driving licence
\n
• Experience supervising or leading an operational team
\n
• Experience in waste management, cleansing, property clearances or a similar environment
\n
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
\n
• Strong communication and organisational skills
\n
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
\n
• Positive attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality services
\n

• Full UK driving licence required, allowing the holder to drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle.

• Must be willing to complete required training, including:Manual handling,Drug-related litter removal, Asbestos awareness

• Successful applicants must complete a driving assessment to confirm suitability for the role
\n
