Salary: £60,000

Location: Chislehurst

Monday-Friday 8-5 Hour lunch, no hybrid working

Fortus Recruitment provides specialist recruitment services, supplying quality candidates on a temporary or permanent basis to leading organisations throughout the industry.

We supply candidates from executive to operative level, and are currently working with a contractor who are looking for a Principal Desinger.

Duties:

\n
• Act as Principal Designer on appointed projects in line with CDM 2015 regulations
\n

\n
• Plan, manage and monitor health & safety during the pre-construction phase
\n
• Coordinate designers and duty holders to ensure effective design risk management
\n
• Support clients in understanding and fulfilling their CDM responsibilities
\n
• Review surveys, drawings, and specifications to identify risks and information gaps
\n
• Lead design risk reviews and maintain risk registers and trackers
\n
• Ensure clear communication of residual risks and design assumptions
\n
• Liaise with project teams acting as Principal Contractor
\n
• Prepare and maintain Health & Safety Files for project completion
\n
• Attend design, pre-start, and project meetings to provide CDM guidance
\n
• Challenge unsafe design practices and escalate where necessary
\n
• Contribute to continuous improvement of CDM systems and processes
\n

Essential qualification & skills:

\n
• Experience in design coordination and design risk management
\n

\n
• Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and pre-construction requirements
\n
• Background in construction, architecture, engineering, or surveying
\n
• Experience working on refurbishment or complex construction projects
\n
• HNC / HND / Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline
\n
• CDM / construction health & safety training
\n
• CSCS card (where required)
\n
• Drivers licence
\n

Desirable skills:

\n
• NEBOSH Construction or similar
\n

\n
• Membership of a professional body (e.g. IOSH, APS)
\n

Benefits:

• Salary: £60,000
\n

\n
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (1hr for lunch)
\n
• Holidays: 21 days of holiday + bank holidays + birthday day off. Christmas closure.
\n
• Tracked company vehicle & fuel card will be provided for business use (if over the age of 25 due to company insurance purposes).
\n
