A rare and senior-level opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Litigation to join a well-established and highly regarded regional law firm based in Oldham. This is a key strategic hire, created following the retirement of the current Head of Department.\n

\n This role offers the chance to take full ownership of a thriving litigation department, working within a respected firm known for delivering high-quality legal services to both commercial and private clients across Greater Manchester and beyond.\n

The Role:\n
\n As Head of Litigation, you will lead and develop a mixed caseload of commercial and civil litigation matters, while also overseeing and mentoring junior fee earners. The work is varied, engaging, and often complex, including:\n
\n Commercial disputes and contract litigation\n
\n Shareholder and company disputes\n
\n Civil litigation including boundary disputes\n
\n Disputed inheritance matters\n
\n You will play a central role in shaping the department’s future, maintaining high standards of client care, and contributing to the firm’s ongoing growth and reputation.\n
\n
Team & Structure:\n
\n You will supervise a capable junior team member currently progressing through the SQE route, providing guidance, technical support, and leadership. The wider firm offers a collaborative and supportive environment with strong internal referral work.\n

About You:\n
\n Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with significant litigation experience\n
\n Proven ability to manage a varied caseload of commercial and civil disputes\n
\n Previous leadership or supervisory experience (or ready to step up)\n
\n Strong commercial awareness and client relationship skills\n
\n Ambitious, organised, and confident in leading a department\n
