\nWere looking for an experienced and inspiring Education Manager to lead and develop education provision within a prison setting. This is a senior leadership role where you will drive quality, performance, and innovationhelping learners gain the skills, confidence, and qualifications needed for successful reintegration into society.
\nYoull play a critical role in shaping education strategy, improving outcomes, and leading a high-performing team focused on rehabilitation and employability.
\nWhat youll be doing
\nStrategic Leadership

- Develop and deliver the prisons education strategy aligned to organisational and government priorities \n
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement \n
- Ensure provision supports rehabilitation, employability, and personal development \n
- Lead curriculum planning to meet diverse learner needs \n
Operational Management
\n- \n
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of all education programmes \n
- Ensure effective staffing, timetables, and resource allocation \n
- Monitor performance against KPIs, contractual targets, and quality standards \n
- Manage budgets to maximise impact and value \n
Quality Assurance & Improvement
\n- \n
- Implement robust quality assurance systems \n
- Monitor teaching, learning, and assessment through observations and audits \n
- Analyse learner data (achievement, attendance, progression) to drive improvement \n
- Lead self-assessment and quality improvement planning \n
Leadership & Team Development
\n- \n
- Lead, motivate, and develop education staff to achieve high performance \n
- Deliver performance reviews, supervision, and CPD support \n
- Promote a positive, inclusive culture and staff wellbeing \n
- Support talent development and succession planning \n
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
\n- \n
- Build strong relationships with prison leadership, partners, employers, and awarding bodies \n
- Represent education services at meetings, inspections, and external reviews \n
- Work collaboratively to support learner engagement and progression Safeguarding, Compliance & Outcomes \n
- \n
- Ensure full compliance with security, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements \n
- Lead preparation for inspections, audits, and reviews \n
- Drive improvements in learner participation, achievement, and progression \n
- Promote education that reduces reoffending and supports long-term outcomes \n
What were looking for
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Degree and/or relevant professional qualification \n
- Teaching qualification (Level 5+ or equivalent, e.g. QTLS) \n
- Internal Quality Assurance qualification (or willingness to achieve) \n
- Strong leadership and people management experience \n
- Proven experience in curriculum development and quality improvement \n
- Experience managing performance and leading teams to achieve results \n
- Excellent communication and organisational skills \n
- Knowledge of OFSTED EIF framework and quality standards \n
- Strong commitment to safeguarding, equality, and compliance \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- Experience working in prison, adult education, or with disadvantaged groups \n
- Knowledge of current education and training initiatives \n
