HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver – Appleby Magna, Derbyshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our well-established client based in Appleby Magna, Derbyshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, consistent weekday shifts, and genuine opportunities for long-term progression.

This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver, Shunter Driver, Yard Shunter, TUG Driver, or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Shifts

 • Monday – Friday
\n  • AM Shift: 06:00 – 14:30
\n  • PM Shift: 14:30 – 23:00

Rates of Pay

 • AM Shift: £19.23 per hour
\n  • PM Shift: £20.01 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver your duties will include, but not be limited to:

 • Shunting 45ft and double-deck trailers onto allocated bays
\n  • Operating and manoeuvring Class 1 vehicles safely and efficiently within the yard
\n  • Completing daily yard and vehicle checks in line with site rules and health & safety guidelines
\n  • Ensuring all trailers and loads are positioned and secured correctly
\n  • Adhering to traffic laws, site regulations, and company procedures
\n  • Communicating effectively with transport and warehouse teams using radio communication
\n  • Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly

Essential Skills

As an HGV Class 1 Shunter Driver you will need:

 • A minimum of one year's Class 1 driving, shunting, and TUG experience
\n  • A valid UK Category CE Licence
\n  • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements
\n  • No major endorsements
\n  • A valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
\n  • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
\n  • Good understanding of UK traffic laws and regulations
\n  • Strong communication skills

Desirable Experience

 • Experience working within a fast-paced yard or logistics environment

Training Provided

 • Driver assessment required prior to start
\n  • Ongoing industry-related training and support
