This is an exciting opportunity to join a brilliant team to support the continued growth of an established family-owned business in Leeds.
\nWe are seeking an experienced Site Test Engineer to join great Operations team. This role is primarily site-focused, requiring regular travel across the UK and, where required, overseas.
\nThe Role:
\nReporting to the Head of Site Services, you will be responsible for the on-site testing, commissioning and maintenance of transformers and associated equipment.
\nThis is a hands-on role combining mechanical, electrical, and testing responsibilities, requiring a high level of technical competence, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently on customer sites.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Lead and carry out on-site transformer testing and commissioning activities \n
- Perform mechanical assembly and installation of transformers and associated equipment in line with Transformer testing procedures \n
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and repair work \n
- Undertake transformer maintenance activities \n
- Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics \n
- Complete all test documentation and reports accurately \n
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with site RAMS and Health & Safety requirements \n
- Represent the business professionally when working with customers and stakeholders \n
- Travel regularly to sites across the UK and overseas as required \n

\nMechanical Assembly

- Installation of radiators, conservators, and cooling systems \n
- Mounting HV and LV bushings and tap changers \n
- Gasketing and sealing to prevent oil leaks \n
- Installation of marshalling boxes, cable tray, and accessories \n
- Torque checking of fixings \n
Electrical Assembly
\n- \n
- Termination of internal and external wiring \n
- Installation and wiring of control and protection devices \n
- Performing functional checks on alarms and trips \n
Maintenance and Refurbishment
\n- \n
- Oil draining, filling, and filtration support \n
- Replacement of gaskets, seals, and breathers \n
- Inspection and upgrading of transformer accessories \n
- Oil sampling for analysis \n
Site Safety and Compliance
\n- \n
- Setting up safe working areas and barriers \n
- Following RAMS and site safety rules \n
- Use of lifting and rigging equipment \n
- Reporting hazards, near misses, and incidents \n
Knowledge and Experience
\n- \n
- Proven experience in electrical testing within an engineering environment \n
- Demonstrable experience in transformer testing and commissioning (essential) \n
- Experience working in site-based roles and live environments \n
- Relevant electrical qualifications and strong knowledge of regulations \n
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics \n
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety and safe systems of work \n
- Methodical approach with strong attention to detail \n
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently on site \n
- Flexible and willing to travel as required \n
