Key Responsibilities:

    Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions.

    Perform a range of ophthalmic surgical procedures to the highest clinical standards.

    Participate in on-call rotas and provide emergency ophthalmic care as required.

  • \n
  • \n

    Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and treatment options.

  • \n

    Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.

  • \n
  • \n

    Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including registrars and SHOs.

  • \n
  • \n

    Participate in clinical governance activities, including audit, research, and quality improvement projects.

  • \n

    Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

  • \n
  • \n

    Engage in continuing professional development to stay abreast of advancements in ophthalmology.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

    Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.

  • \n
  • \n

    Completion of higher specialist training in Ophthalmology.

  • \n
  • \n

    Possession of CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) or equivalent in Ophthalmology.

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience in performing a wide range of ophthalmic surgical procedures.

  • \n
  • \n

    Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to maintaining clinical skills.

  • \n

Desirable Skills:

  • \n

    Sub-speciality interest or experience in areas such as cataract surgery, vitreoretinal surgery, or oculoplastics.

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience in teaching and training junior doctors and medical students.

  • \n
  • \n

    Involvement in research or clinical audit within ophthalmology.

  • \n
  • \n

    Leadership experience within a clinical setting.

  • \n
