Job Description
Help Change Lives Through Education
\nAt PeoplePlus, we believe education transforms lives. With over 20 years' experience delivering high-quality prison education across England, we're committed to helping people develop the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to build brighter futures.
\nWe're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Peer Academy Team Leader / Trainer to lead our Peer Led Services programme, empowering prisoners to become Peer Tutors, Peer Mentors and positive role models within their prison community.
\nThis is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about education, leadership and rehabilitation, where you'll play a key role in developing innovative learning opportunities that improve employability, wellbeing and social mobility.
\nAbout the Role
\nAs the Peer Academy Team Leader / Trainer, you'll lead the development and delivery of our Peer Led Services Programme, creating a culture where prisoners support, mentor and inspire one another through structured learning and development.
\nYou'll manage the day-to-day operation of the Peer Academy, delivering high-quality training while ensuring the programme exceeds contractual, quality and learner expectations.
\nWorking closely with prison staff, education providers and external partners, you'll develop initiatives that encourage active citizenship, build confidence and prepare learners for employment and successful resettlement.
\nThis role is a fixed term contract for 10 months.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nYou'll be responsible for:
\n- \n
- Leading and managing the Peer Led Services Programme. \n
- Designing and delivering engaging Peer Tutor and Peer Mentor training programmes. \n
- Developing supervision and support programmes for Peer Mentors. \n
- Creating a varied programme of peer-led learning, wellbeing and enrichment activities. \n
- Supporting learners to develop Education and Training Portfolios that evidence their skills and achievements. \n
- Delivering accredited qualifications and employability training. \n
- Working collaboratively with prison staff, education teams and external partners to maximise learner opportunities. \n
- Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records using prison and company systems. \n
- Producing high-quality management information, reports and impact data. \n
- Supporting continuous quality improvement, compliance and outstanding learner outcomes. \n
- Promoting innovation and best practice across Peer Led Services. \n
- To undertake any other-directed tasks deemed necessary by your line manager. \n
What You'll Bring
\nWe're looking for someone who has:
\n- \n
- Experience delivering education, training or employability programmes. \n
- Previous experience leading or supervising teams. \n
- Strong coaching, mentoring and communication skills. \n
- Experience designing engaging learning programmes. \n
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills. \n
- Confidence using management information systems and analysing performance data. \n
- A passion for supporting people to achieve positive outcomes. \n
- The ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. \n
- A commitment to quality, safeguarding and continuous improvement. \n
Experience within prison education or working in custodial environments would be advantageous but isn't essential.
\nWhy Join PeoplePlus?
\nAt PeoplePlus, our purpose is simple: improving people's lives.
\nWhen you join us, you'll become part of a supportive team dedicated to creating real opportunities for people to learn, grow and succeed.
\nIn return, you'll have the opportunity to:
\n- \n
- Make a genuine difference to people's lives every day. \n
- Lead innovative education and mentoring programmes. \n
- Work within a collaborative and supportive team. \n
- Contribute to reducing reoffending through education and employment. \n
- Develop your own professional skills and career. \n
Additional Information
\n- \n
- This is a 100% prison-based role with daily face-to-face learner engagement. \n
- Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain Prison Security Clearance. \n
- The role is subject to contractual performance measures and quality standards. \n
Ready to Make an Impact?
\nIf you're passionate about education, leadership and helping people realise their potential, we'd love to hear from you.
