\nThe RoleWe are seeking a full-time, permanent, hands-on Yard Manager to join a busy depot in Stratford-upon-Avon.This is an operational, hnads on role where you will lead from the front, working alongside Yard Operatives and actively participating in the day-to-day running of the yard.\n
\nThe position involves regular manual labour, including cleaning timber mats and working outdoors in all weather conditions.The ideal candidate will have experience operating telehandlers/forklift trucks and a strong background in a similar yard or construction environment, along with people management experience.\n

\nKey ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the yardOperate telehandlers (experience preferred although training could be provided)Load and offload articulated vehiclesSort and manually clean hire and returned matsMaintain yard organisation and stock control in line with company standardsComplete and maintain accurate operational paperworkManage and supervise Yard Operatives, including performance reviews and holiday approvalsCoordinate staffing requirements with temporary agencies when neededEnsure full compliance with health and safety proceduresConduct stock checks and maintain stock accuracyArrange servicing and maintenance of yard equipmentOrganise skip changes and obtain quotes for consumables and minor repairsMonitor fuel levels and support ordering processesSupport senior management in the ongoing development of yard operationsProvide regular updates to senior management on performance and operationsCarry out any other duties appropriate to the role\n
\nRequirements\n
\nDemonstrable experience in a supervisory or management role within a yard or similar environmentStrong understanding of basic HR processes and team managementExcellent communication skills (verbal and written)Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and ExcelStrong leadership and team management abilitiesFull UK driving licence and forklift operating experiencePhysically fit and capable of performing labour-intensive duties outdoors in all weather conditions\n
\nDesirableProven experience operating telehandlers preferred in a commercial or construction environmentExperience handling construction and hire-based productsExperience of dealing with Risk Assessments\n
