HGV Class 1 Driver

HGV CLASS 1 DRIVER – MANCHESTER, NEWTON HEATH

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Manchester, Newton Heath.

This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity offering great rates of pay, consistent work, and a professional working environment throughout the busy peak period.

This role would suit applicants who have previously worked in a role as an LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Shifts:

• Starts between 21:00 – 01:00
\n • 4 on 4 off
\n • Overtime available

Rates of Pay:

• £19.94 per hour
\n • £21.38 per hour for hours worked between 22:00 – 04:00

Day-to-Day Duties:

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Safely and efficiently operating Category CE vehicles
\n • Delivering food products to RDCs
\n • Ensuring all loads are safely secured
\n • Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
\n • Reporting any vehicle defects or issues to management
\n • Completing deliveries in a timely and professional manner
\n • Communicating effectively with the transport office regarding delays or issues
\n • Complying with all driving regulations and working time directives
\n • Completing all required paperwork accurately

Essential Skills:

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• A valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
\n • A minimum of one year's experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver
\n • A valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
\n • No more than six penalty points for minor offences (no IN10, DR10, or DD10 codes)
\n • Strong communication and customer service skills

Desirable Experience:

• More than one year of Class 1 driving experience

Training:

• Ongoing support from the transport and recruitment team
\n • Full briefing on site procedures and delivery routes
