4myschools are working with a village primary school in the Tendring area, recognised for its strong community ethos, structured learning environment, and commitment to pupils.\n
The role:We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with complex needs on a four-day-per-week basis (flexible days to be agreed with the school and family). This role will commence in September 2026 and is initially for the Autumn term.\n
\nThe successful candidate will deliver highly individualised support, working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to tailor learning activities, implement speech and language strategies, and help the child access the curriculum in a way that is engaging and appropriate to their developmental level.\n
\nThe role will involve providing personal care with dignity and sensitivity, supporting behaviours that challenge through consistent and calm strategies, assisting during periods of sensory overwhelm, and ensuring the childs safety in relation to behaviours such as pica and head-banging.\n
\nBuilding a trusting relationship will be key, alongside using visual supports and structured interventions to support communication and routine. You will also contribute to ongoing monitoring, progress updates, and close communication with both school staff and parents.\n
Ideal Candidate:We are seeking a resilient, patient and proactive Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with complex needs, including speech and language difficulties, developmental delays, and behaviours that may present challenges.\n
\nThe successful candidate will have a strong understanding of SEN support strategies, particularly in relation to sensory regulation and communication tools such as PECS or visual timetables. Experience providing personal care is essential, along with the ability to respond calmly and consistently to a range of behaviours.\n
\nYou must be available to work four days per week, 8:30am-3:30pm (flexible on days - to be agreed in advance), term time only. Due to the location of the school, access to reliable transport is highly desirable.\n
\nA Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial; however, proven experience in a similar role will be equally valued. Above all, you will be passionate about supporting children with additional needs and committed to making a meaningful impact on a childs educational journey.\n
\nYou will need a valid Enhanced, Child workforce DBS and be eligible to work in the UK.\n
