\n A long-established independent education site set within extensive landscaped grounds is seeking a skilled General Builder to join its in-house Estates team. This is a varied and hands-on role supporting the maintenance and upkeep of a large and diverse estate, featuring both historic and modern buildings.\n
\n You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary estates department, contributing to planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and general building works across the site.\n
Key Responsibilities\n
\n

\n
• Carry out planned and reactive building maintenance across a varied estate
\n
• Undertake general building, paving, external works, roofing repairs and maintenance
\n
• Support drainage maintenance including gulley clearing, gutter cleaning, and roof clearing
\n
• Assist with erection and safe use of access equipment including scaffold towers
\n
• Support the escorting of contractors on site when required
\n
• Transport and distribute materials across site for maintenance activities
\n
• Contribute to planned preventative maintenance programmes
\n
• Work independently or as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently
\n
• Maintain strong compliance with Health & Safety procedures (including COSHH, PUWER, Working at Height)
\n
• Ensure high standards of workmanship, safety, and attention to detail at all times
\n

Requirements\n
\n

\n
• Multi-trade building experience (general building background essential)
\n
• Proven experience in maintenance or construction environments
\n
• Ability to manage a varied workload across multiple tasks/projects
\n
• Full UK driving licence
\n
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
\n
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements on site
\n

Desirable (Not Essential)\n
\n

• Experience within educational or regulated environments
\n
• Knowledge of Building Regulations
\n
• PASMA and/or IPAF certification
\n
• Basic plumbing experience
\n

Working Pattern & Benefits\n
\n

• £35,000 - £37,000
\n
• Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week - 8am - 4.30pm
\n
• 5 weeks holiday plus UK Bank Holidays
\n
• Free Lunches provided
\n
• Additional flexibility during school holiday periods (with some restrictions during peak periods)
\n
• Christmas to New Year site closure (emergency cover only)
\n
• Overtime and flexibility may be required depending on workload
\n
• Use of gym facilities
