Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester

Our client is looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join their busy, well-established independent German vehicle specialist in Hitchin.

They are a family-run garage established in 1996, specialising in Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and other German vehicles, with dealer-level diagnostic equipment including ODIS, VCDS, ISTA and Autel. They are looking for a reliable, skilled and motivated Technician who takes pride in their work and can carry out repairs, servicing, diagnostics and MOT testing to a high standard.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out MOT tests, servicing, repairs, diagnostics and general mechanical work on a wide range of vehicles, with a strong focus on Volkswagen Audi Group models.

Duties will include:

• Carrying out MOT tests to DVSA standards.
\n
• Servicing and maintenance.
\n
• Brakes, suspension, steering and clutch work.
\n
• Timing belts, water pumps and general mechanical repairs.
\n
• Diagnostic work using dealer-level and aftermarket tools.
\n
• Fault finding and repair on electrical and mechanical systems.
\n
• Completing work accurately and efficiently.
\n
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and cleanliness.
\n
• Working as part of a busy workshop team.
\n
• Liaising with the Workshop Controller / Service Advisor where required.
\n

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• A valid MOT Tester licence.
\n
• Strong mechanical experience.
\n
• Good diagnostic ability.
\n
• Experience working on German vehicles preferred.
\n
• Own tools.
\n
• Full UK driving licence.
\n
• Good attention to detail.
\n
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\n
• Pride in producing clean, accurate and professional work.
\n
• A reliable and positive attitude.
\n
