This is a pivotal role combining people management, strategic influence and specialist legal expertise, working closely with senior officers, elected Members and partner councils to shape service delivery and manage complex, high-profile legal matters.What you'll be doing\n

- Lead, motivate, support and develop the Litigation and Regulatory team, building a collaborative and customer-focused culture \n
- Lead on complex and sensitive litigation and regulatory matters, identifying risk and liability and advising on solution-focused strategies \n
- Ensure the Legal Shared Service provides proactive, pragmatic and robust advice and support to all clients, internal and external \n
- Monitor the team's budget, identifying ways to save money while improving the service provided \n
- Research, analyse, investigate and provide legal advice to councillors and officers on matters within the Council's functions \n
- Attend Member and Officer meetings, including Council, Cabinet and Committee meetings, to help ensure decisions are lawful \n

- A proven track record of managing a legal team \n
- Legal expertise and experience in litigation and regulatory law \n
- Strong interpersonal and client management skills \n
- A collaborative approach to working across councils and teams \n
