CNC Programmer

\nThe position of CNC SETTER PROGRAMMER will be to be responsible for setting up, running and controlling the processes and assist less skilled or more junior employees in resolving process problems, as instructed by the Cell Leader, to meet Cell targets on cost, quality and timeliness.
\nIn addition to the above responsibility this role will also include allotted time away from setting duties to create & modify CNC programs offline, design work holding, specify and order tooling.
\nMain Duties:
\nTo set up, operate and control processes in the sequence as instructed by the Leader.To perform this, the employee will:
\nDraw from the relevant storage area all materials, equipment, tooling and documentation required to set up the process.
\nSet up the process in accordance with relevant instructions, i.e. Route Card, P.S.P.I., I.S.P.I., Working Practice.
\nConsult with the Team Leader if it is not possible to achieve process to the relevant instructions.
\nCarry out all necessary checks and record on the relevant documentation all checks that have been carried out.
\nRun the process or instruct the relevant employees to run the process.
\nTo offline modify programs for changes including material size amendments and tooling changes.
\nTo write offline new programs for established product styles.
\nTo identify tooling requirements, for new programs, design tooling as required working in conjunction with manufacturing and design engineers.
\nOrder external tooling as required, holders tips etc.
\nTo account for all materials and product being worked on the process the Setter has been designated to control, for all shifts worked.
\nTo maintain accurate, legible records using the appropriate recording systems.
\nTo work correctly to the Company direct and indirect time reporting system, reporting any problems encountered to the Team leader.
\nTo communicate with the Team leader on all problems affecting the process being controlled or the overall performance of the Cell.
\nTo communicate with other employees in the Cell, services to the Cell and other Cell leaders on process capability problems as instructed by the Cell Leader.
\nTo carry out related duties as required.
\nSkills & Experience:
\nApprentice Trained Time served Mechanical Engineering
\nA good level of computer literacy.
\nThe ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
\nAn extensive knowledge of and a proven background in CNC programming, additional training for specific machines will be provided as required.
\nExperienced in appropriate selection of speeds and feeds.
\nUnderstanding of holder, tip & cutter selection.
\nUnderstanding of work holding design and requirements.
\nUnderstanding of program optimisation.
\nTo have a full understanding of all machinery, equipment, gauging, and processes performed in the Cell.
