Overview

CDS Labour are recruiting an experienced Assistant Hatchery Manager to join a modern hatchery operation in the Wrexham area.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with poultry, agricultural, or production management experience to take the next step in their career and play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy hatchery facility.

\n

Working closely with the Hatchery Manager, you will help ensure the highest standards of chick quality, animal welfare, hygiene, biosecurity, and operational efficiency.

\n

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Supporting the management of hatchery operations, including egg intake, incubation, hatching, chick handling, and dispatch
  • \n
  • Supervising, training, and motivating hatchery staff
  • \n
  • Assisting with workforce planning and daily task allocation
  • \n
  • Monitoring team performance and maintaining operational standards
  • \n
  • Coordinating egg and chick transport activities
  • \n
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures
  • \n
  • Supporting maintenance and fault-finding of hatchery equipment
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate production and performance records
  • \n
  • Assisting with audits and compliance requirements
  • \n
  • Responding to operational issues and providing support outside normal hours when required
  • \n
  • Deputising for the Hatchery Manager during periods of absence
  • \n

Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a production, agricultural, poultry, or manufacturing environment
  • \n
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • \n
  • Good computer literacy and record-keeping abilities
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
  • \n
  • Poultry or hatchery experience desirable
  • \n
