Freelance Setting Out Engineer

We are seeking experienced Setting Out Engineers to join the main subcontractor delivering a landmark £200m highways infrastructure scheme in the UK.\n
\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to work on a large-scale civil engineering project with a strong pipeline of work and long-term contract potential.\n
\nKey Responsibilities:\n
\n- Setting out and surveying works across multiple work fronts.\n
\n- Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built information.\n
\n- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and design information.\n
\n- Ensuring works are delivered to required tolerances and quality standards.\n
\n- Liaising closely with Site Engineers, Section Engineers, Site Managers, and Project Teams.\n
\n- Supporting quality assurance processes and technical compliance on site.\n
\nProject Scope Includes:\n
\n- Major Earthworks operations.\n
\n- Highways construction and infrastructure works.\n
\n- Drainage installation including deep drainage and associated utilities.\n
\n- Section 278 (S278) Works and highway improvements.\n
\n- Reinforced and in-situ Concrete Structures.\n
\n- Associated civils and infrastructure packages.\n
\nRequirements:\n
\n- Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on major civil engineering or highways projects.\n
\n- Strong background in earthworks, highways, drainage, structures, or infrastructure works.\n
\n- Proficient with Leica and/or Trimble surveying equipment.\n
\n- Competent in reading technical drawings and setting out from design information.\n
\n- CSCS Card (essential).\n
\n- Ability to work independently while supporting wider delivery teams.\n
\n- Full UK driving licence preferred.\n
