CNC Machinist / Programmer (5-Axis)

We're working with a long-established precision engineering business that has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, technically demanding work. They operate in sectors where getting it right first time isn't optional, and the level of investment in both machinery and people reflects that.

The machine shop is well organised, well equipped and staffed by people who know what they're doing. It's the kind of environment where good machinists tend to stay.

They're now looking to strengthen the team with experienced CNC Machinist/Programmers, particularly those confident working with 5-axis milling.

The Role

This is a hands-on position where you'll be involved across the full machining process, not just stood loading parts.

• Programming, setting and operating 5-axis milling machines
\n
• Working from detailed engineering drawings and CAD data
\n
• Producing complex components to tight tolerances
\n
• Inspecting your own work to ensure it meets spec
\n
• Carrying out finishing work where required
\n
• Identifying and resolving issues on the shop floor
\n
• Keeping machines in good condition and running efficiently
\n
• Supporting less experienced team members where needed
\n

You'll be trusted to manage your own work and contribute to maintaining high standards across the shop.

What They're Looking For

\n
• Solid experience in CNC machining and programming
\n
• A strong background in 5-axis milling
\n
• Experience with Heidenhain controls would be ideal
\n
• Comfortable using CAM software
\n
• Able to read and interpret complex drawings (including GD&T)
\n
• Used to working in precision engineering environments
\n
• Someone who genuinely cares about quality and takes ownership of their work
\n

The Work

The company manufactures complex components, both for prototype development and production. The work is varied, often challenging, and typically involves tight tolerances and high-spec materials.

If you prefer simple, repetitive machining, this probably won't be the right fit. If you enjoy problem-solving and technical work, it will be.
