Motor Underwriter - Mid Market\n
Location Maidstone, 3 days per week\n
Salary Circa £40,000 (Depending on experience)\n
\nIPS Group are working with a leading insurer within the UK commercial market, to appoint an experienced Motor Underwriterto join its well-established London-based trading team.\n
\nThis is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist commercial division focused on Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate business, managing and developing an existing portfolio of commercial fleet business, delivering profitable underwriting results while building strong broker relationships and driving portfolio performance.\n
The Role
\n
\nAs a MotorUnderwriter, you will:\n
\n
    \n
  • Profitably underwrite and manage an existing commercial fleet portfolio within delegated authority levels.
  • \n
  • Assess fleet risks, review policy coverage and determine appropriate pricing and terms.
  • \n
  • Utilise underwriting tools, appetite guides and technical expertise to support sound decision-making.
  • \n
  • Develop strong relationships with brokers through regular engagement and market presence.
  • \n
  • Negotiate effectively to secure profitable outcomes while meeting customer needs.
  • \n
  • Manage larger and more complex cases, providing technical underwriting solutions.
  • \n
  • Monitor account performance, retention rates and loss ratios.
  • \n
  • Identify and address underperforming accounts through targeted action plans.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with internal underwriting and technical teams to deliver best-in-class service.
  • \n
About You
\n
\nThe ideal person for this opportunity will have experience Underwriting Commercial Fleet Business with strong technical knowledge across the Commercial Insurance market.\n
A few more ideals to have are: \n

    \n
  • Excellent trading and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.
  • \n
  • Experience developing and maintaining successful broker relationships.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical and numerical capabilities with the ability to assess risk and portfolio performance.
  • \n
  • Cert CII or Dip CII qualifications would be advantageous but not essential
  • \n
