Role: CDM Advisor/ Principal Designer
\nLocation: Central London offices (hybrid 3 days per week)
\nSalary: £50,000 - £70,000 (dependent on experience)

\nWe Recruit Group is working with a nationally recognised, award-winning architectural and development consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced CDM Advisor/ Principal Designer to join its established Building Safety and Development Consultancy team.
\nEstablished more than 60 years ago, the business has built an excellent reputation for designing and delivering high-quality buildings and places that positively contribute to their communities. The consultancy works across major residential developments, urban regeneration, mixed-use schemes, later living, care, commercial property, industrial developments, retrofit and adaptive reuse.
\nThe organisation is particularly well known for its expertise in housing, large-scale regeneration and later living. Its portfolio includes new neighbourhoods containing several thousand homes, complex town-centre regeneration projects, estate renewal programmes, affordable housing developments and specialist care environments.
\nThe successful candidate will join an established multidisciplinary environment where architects, urban designers, technical specialists, project managers, building safety professionals and sustainability consultants work collaboratively. \nThe Role:
\nYou will work as part of the specialist CDM and Building Safety team, supporting clients and internal design teams with the delivery of Principal Designer, Principal Designer Advisor and CDM Client Advisor services.
\nThe wider team provides a comprehensive range of building safety services, health and safety consultancy, fire safety advice, safety cases, training, site audits and quality inspections.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CDM professional who enjoys working closely with designers and clients on technically interesting projects. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, helping teams identify, manage and communicate health and safety risks from the earliest design stages through to practical completion.
\nThe position would suit someone who is confident advising clients and design teams, understands how buildings are designed and constructed, and can provide practical rather than overly procedural CDM advice.
\nDuties and Responsibilities:
\nUndertake and lead Principal Designer and Principal Designer Advisor duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
\nAdvise clients, architects, consultants and wider project teams on their responsibilities under CDM 2015.
\nSupport internal design teams in applying CDM requirements and industry best practice.
\nReview designs and help project teams identify, eliminate or control foreseeable health and safety risks.
\nAssist designers with the preparation and maintenance of design risk registers.
\nAttend design team meetings, progress meetings, client meetings and project workshops.
\nPrepare clear CDM reports, advice notes and project correspondence.
\nCoordinate, review and manage pre-construction information.
\nEnsure Health and Safety Files are properly compiled, completed and handed over to the client by practical completion.
\nDeliver CDM and health and safety workshops to internal teams, clients and project stakeholders.
\nUndertake construction site inspections and health and safety audits where appropriate.
\nProvide CDM Client Advisor services, helping clients understand and discharge their statutory duties.
\nMaintain accurate project records using the consultancys project management and document control systems.
\nDevelop relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities for additional CDM and building safety services.
\nSupport the Associate Director in mentoring and guiding less experienced members of the CDM team.
\nMaintain an up-to-date understanding of CDM legislation, construction health and safety requirements and relevant industry guidance.
\nRequirements:
\nPrevious experience delivering CDM, Principal Designer or construction health and safety consultancy services.
\nA strong working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
\nAn understanding of architectural design, construction methodologies and the different stages of project delivery.
\nExperience advising clients, designers and multidisciplinary project teams.
\nThe ability to identify foreseeable design and construction risks and communicate proportionate solutions.
\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.
\nConfidence attending and contributing to client and design team meetings.
\nExcellent organisational and project management skills.
\nThe ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and deadlines.
\nA proactive, commercially aware and client-focused approach.
\nThe ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider multidisciplinary team.
\nA relevant health and safety, construction or design qualification.
\nMembership of a relevant professional organisation, or a commitment to achieving professional membership.
\nExperience delivering training, mentoring colleagues or contributing to business development would be advantageous.
