\n\nEaton Syalon is exclusively partnering with a high growth acquisitive Nottingham based business to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant to join its finance team in a key role, supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and continuous improvement across the function. This is a newly created role within the organisation.
\nWorking closely with the Financial Controller & CFO, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of financial accounting activities, from statutory reporting and group consolidations to process improvements and business projects. \n\nThe Opportunity
\nAs Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in ensuring the organisation maintains a robust financial control environment while delivering accurate statutory reporting, group consolidations and tax compliance.
\nThis is a varied role with the opportunity to lead projects, influence finance transformation initiatives and support best practice across the finance function.
\n\nYour key responsibilities will include:
\n\nFinancial Control & Governance
\n- \n
- Maintaining and enhancing a robust financial control environment. \n
- Safeguarding company assets and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. \n
- Leading month-end and year-end financial processes. \n
- Developing and monitoring internal controls, policies and procedures. \n
- Acting as a key contact for external auditors and tax advisers. \n
- Ensuring statutory, regulatory and audit requirements are met. \n
Financial Accounting
\nYou'll confidently take ownership of:
\n- \n
- End-to-end balance sheet management. \n
- Group consolidation processes. \n
- Preparation of financial accounts. \n
- Audit preparation. \n
- Complex financial reporting. \n
- Statutory accounts. \n
- Tax compliance. \n
- IFRS and FRS 102 reporting requirements. \n
Technical Accounting
\nYou'll bring strong technical expertise, including:
\n- \n
- A thorough understanding of current accounting and tax legislation. \n
- Experience applying IFRS and FRS 102 standards. \n
- Strong knowledge of accounting within Group structures. \n
- Understanding of both direct and indirect taxation. \n
Mentoring & Team Development
\nWorking closely with the Financial Controller, you'll help:
\n- \n
- Support, mentor and develop colleagues within the finance team. \n
- Encourage collaboration across the business. \n
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. \n
Financial Reporting & Business Insight
\nYou'll produce meaningful financial information that supports business performance, including:
\n- \n
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations. \n
- High-quality financial reporting. \n
- Actionable commercial insights. \n
- Continuous improvement of reporting processes and financial data integrity. \n
Continuous Improvement
\nYou'll help drive positive change by:
\n- \n
- Streamlining finance processes. \n
- Automating manual tasks where possible. \n
- Improving reporting efficiency. \n
- Supporting finance transformation initiatives. \n
- Embedding best-practice financial processes across the organisation. \n
- Working with stakeholders to improve financial understanding across the business. \n
Project Work
\nYou'll also lead or support a variety of finance and business projects, including:
\n- \n
- Systems implementations and upgrades. \n
- Process redesign. \n
- Finance transformation initiatives. \n
- Other ad hoc projects as required by the Finance Director. \n
About You
\nYou'll be a fully qualified accountant or a finalist studying towards your qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
\nYou'll also bring:
\n- \n
- Strong financial accounting experience. \n
- Excellent understanding of financial governance and controls. \n
- Experience producing statutory financial accounts. \n
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and FRS 102. \n
- Experience with Group consolidations. \n
- A solid understanding of direct and indirect taxation. \n
- A track record of driving continuous improvement. \n
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. \n
