About the Role
\nPeterborough City Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team, working with children and families across long-term safeguarding pathways.
\nThis is a busy and engaging safeguarding role, managing cases from initial intervention through to court proceedings and final hearing.
\nYou will work with children and families under:
\n- \n
- Section 17 \n
- Section 47 \n
- Public Law Outline and Care Proceedings \n
The role focuses on assessment and intervention, ensuring children are safeguarded while supporting families to create sustainable change.
\n\nHybrid: Minimum 2 days in the office (plus visits as required)
\n\nKey Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Manage a long-term safeguarding caseload across CIN and CP frameworks \n
- Work on cases progressing through PLO and care proceedings to final hearing \n
- Undertake high-quality assessments and interventions to promote welfare and address risk \n
- Build strong relationships with children and families, ensuring their views inform planning \n
- Produce clear, analytical reports and records to support decision-making and court processes \n
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated safeguarding plans \n
- Manage workload independently while maintaining high professional standards and timely outcomes \n

Experience/Skills
\n- \n
- Have experience within long-term safeguarding teams \n
- Are confident managing CIN, CP and court-related cases \n
- Have strong assessment, intervention and analytical skills \n
- Can manage risk and complexity effectively \n
- Have excellent report writing and communication skills \n
- Work well within multi-agency environments \n
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and are registered with Social Work England \n
