About the Role
\nWe are recruiting a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the CAMHS Emotional Disorders Team (EDT) within Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) on a maternity leave cover basis.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly specialist and well-established multidisciplinary CAMHS service alongside a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist, supporting children and young people presenting with a range of emotional disorders including:

Related emotional and mental health presentations

The Emotional Disorders Team provides specialist assessment and treatment planning for children and young people following CAMHS triage, working within evidence-based pathways and a collaborative MDT structure.
\nKey Responsibilities

Provide senior psychiatric leadership within the Emotional Disorders Team alongside the substantive Consultant Psychiatrist
\n - \n
Conduct:

Initial psychiatric assessments
\n - \n
Risk assessments
\n - \n
Diagnostic assessments
\n - \n
Treatment planning and reviews
\n
\n - \n
- \n
Initiate and monitor pharmacological treatments where appropriate
\n - \n
Support and contribute to weekly MDT and post-assessment meetings
\n - \n
Provide clinical leadership and support to the wider MDT
\n - \n
Contribute to evidence-based care planning and service development
\n - \n
Work collaboratively with families, schools, community services, and external agencies
\n - \n
Support trainee doctors and MDT colleagues within the service
\n

The team manages an active caseload of approximately 200 patients, with each young person allocated a case manager within the MDT.
\nWhat We’re Looking ForEssential
\n- \n
- \n
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
\n - \n
Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
\n - \n
Significant CAMHS experience, including emotional disorders presentations
\n - \n
Experience conducting psychiatric and risk assessments in children and young people
\n - \n
Strong multidisciplinary working and leadership skills
\n
Desirable

Experience within specialist CAMHS emotional disorders services

Experience supporting trainees and junior staff
\n - \n
Interest in service development and evidence-based practice
