Electronic Design Engineer Role Overview
\nReporting to the Engineering Manager, the Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of electronic system design, ensuring designs are robust and developed to a high quality and standard.
\nCovering the whole spectrum from concept to production across the entire range of products this role will focus on new product development and include a variety of short and long-term projects.
\nElectronic Design Engineer Hours, Pay and Benefits

- £40,000 - £45,000 \n
- 37 hours per week, 8:00am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, with a 1pm finish on Fridays (this is a full-time in office role) \n
- Benefits include: above average employer pension contribution of 6.5%, above average holiday allowance of 26 days plus bank holidays, 3 x salary life assurance, company bonus (first £3,000 is tax-free). \n
This Role is Commutable From: Nottingham, Derby, Burton upon Trent, Coalville, Loughborough
\nElectronic Design Engineer Candidate Requirements
\n- \n
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree. \n
- At least five years analogue & digital electronics and low power design experience. \n
- Proficient at electronic circuit design including schematic capture & PCB layout. \n
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs & communication interfaces such as I2C, SPI & USB. \n
- Experience of real-time firmware, preferably with C++. \n
- Strong problem-solving ability and critical thinking. \n
- Able to meet deadlines and motivated to deliver project goals. \n
- Committed and driven to work to high quality and performance standards. \n
- Familiarity with MRP systems (eg. AXAPTA, SAP) and design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) techniques. \n
Electronic Design Engineer Key Responsibilities
\nNew Product Development
\nDevelop robust, reliable and future-proof solutions to support data acquisition and control of new products including:

- Printed circuit board design, development and validation \n
- Firmware development and validation \n
- Integration with third party controllers, transducers, instrumentation, drives, etc \n
Current Product and Production Support
\n- \n
- Find solutions to component obsolescence to maintain product continuity and lead times \n
- Support Customer Services in the resolution of electronics related issues \n
- Support End-of-line testing and debugging of newly built products & pre-production prototypes \n
- Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers \n
Compliance
\n- \n
- Ensure electronic systems comply with electrical safety, EMC, REACH, RoHS regulations, etc \n
- Effective documentation of designs and firmware including design changes \n
