\nWe are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing operation based in Gloucestershire.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer looking to join a well-established site, supporting critical production equipment within a fast-paced continuous manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, minimising downtime and driving continuous improvement across the mill.
\nWhat you'll be doing:
\n- \n
- Providing preventative maintenance and mechanical breakdown support across the mill. \n
- Diagnosing equipment failures and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime. \n
- Identifying root causes of breakdowns and recommending improvements to prevent recurring issues. \n
- Completing planned maintenance activities and feeding back completed work through the SAP maintenance management system. \n
- Following up on shift reports, inspection findings and corrective maintenance actions. \n
- Locating, issuing and returning spare parts through the maintenance stores system. \n
- Working within Electrical and Mechanical Safe Systems of Work, issuing permits and certificates when required. \n
- Supporting engineering change processes through the Management of Change (MOC) system. \n
- Liaising with engineering teams to identify and resolve long-term reliability issues. \n
- Carrying out a wide range of mechanical maintenance activities including: \n
- \n
- Transmission belt inspection, tensioning and replacement. \n
- Bearing and coupling inspections, alignment checks and replacements. \n
- Installation and maintenance of pumps, agitators, fans, refiners and paper machine equipment. \n
- Repair and maintenance of seals, packings and rotating equipment. \n
- Turning, milling, grinding and machining of components. \n
- General fabrication and welding work. \n
- Rigging, lifting and mechanical installation of heavy equipment. \n
- Fault finding and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. \n
- Maintenance and repair of compressors and ancillary equipment. \n
\n - Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance at all times. \n
What we need from you:
\n- \n
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering. \n
- Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, process or continuous production environment. \n
- Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and best practice maintenance techniques. \n
- Experience in fitting, machining, fabrication, rigging and lifting operations. \n
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills on mechanical equipment and plant machinery. \n
- Experience working on rotating equipment such as pumps, fans, gearboxes, conveyors and agitators. \n
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. \n
- Familiarity with CMMS systems, ideally SAP. \n
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work within an industrial environment. \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. \n
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and production teams. \n
- Flexible and proactive approach with a strong commitment to continuous improvement. \n
- Previous paper, pulp, manufacturing, chemical, FMCG or other process industry experience would be advantageous. \n
