A well-established social housing provider based in the South West is looking for an experienced Interim Lettings Officer to join their team on a short-term basis. The organisation manages a diverse portfolio of homes across a central city and surrounding towns and villages within commuting distance.\n
\nWith a strong focus on delivering customer-focused housing services, the organisation operates within a structured and collaborative environment, offering a central office base with flexible working arrangements where operationally possible.\n
Responsibilities of this Letting Officer Role:\n

  • Advertise available homes via Devon Home Choice and manage all associated administration
  • \n
  • Complete shortlisting activities in line with lettings policies and local allocation requirements
  • \n
  • Arrange and conduct property viewings across the organisations housing stock
  • \n
  • Complete tenancy sign-ups, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are accurately managed
  • \n
  • Liaise with internal teams to coordinate appointments, workloads, and shared resources including pool vehicles
  • \n
  • Provide reliable short-term support to maintain service continuity during the permanent recruitment process
  • \n
  • Deliver a professional and customer-focused lettings service throughout the customer journey
  • \n
Salary and benefits\n

  • Interim contract length: approximately 46 weeks
  • \n
  • Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am5:00pm
  • \n
  • Hybrid working pattern: minimum 3 days office-based with up to 2 days from home
  • \n
  • Regular travel required for property viewings and tenancy sign-ups
  • \n
  • Mileage paid when using your own vehicle
  • \n
  • Pool car available for business use (shared resource)
  • \n
  • £22-£24 per hour
  • \n

The successful candidate will have:\n

  • Previous experience working as a Lettings Officer within social housing, housing association, or registered provider environments
  • \n
  • Proven experience using Devon Home Choice (essential; no time available for training)
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of lettings processes, allocations, and tenancy sign-up procedures
  • \n
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly for property appointments
  • \n
  • The ability to start quickly and provide effective support from day one
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage administration alongside customer-facing responsibilities
  • \n
  • A professional, reliable, and approachable manner with the ability to integrate quickly into an established team
  • \n
