HGV Class 1 Driver – Castle Donington

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based at East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, consistent ongoing work, and long-term opportunities with the potential to secure a permanent position.

This role would suit applicants who have previously worked as an LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Shifts:

• Thursday to Monday
\n • Start times between 05:00 and 07:00

Rates of Pay:

• Weekday: £17.00 per hour
\n • Saturday: £18.00 per hour
\n • Sunday: £19.00 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties:

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include:

• Safely operating Category C+E vehicles completing cross-country runs
\n • Operating curtain-sider trailers and securing loads correctly, including awkward loads
\n • Making timely deliveries to various destinations
\n • Communicating effectively with the transport team
\n • Adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
\n • Ensuring full compliance with driving laws and working time directives

Essential Skills:

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• A valid UK Category C+E Licence
\n • A valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
\n • A minimum of six months continuous Class 1 driving experience
\n • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements
\n • No major endorsement codes
\n • Excellent communication and time management skills
\n • A professional and reliable attitude

Desirable Experience:

• Experience securing and strapping abnormal loads
\n • Experience manoeuvring within tight delivery depots

Training:

• Driving assessment required prior to start
\n • Three-day paid company induction programme
\n • Full industry-related training and ongoing support
