Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the VascularICU/Burn/Trauma Unit. This is a Full Time, Rotating shift (12-hour shift) position for a total of 36 hours per week.\n
\n
Hours:This is a Rotating shift position and candidates must be flexible to work either Day or Night shifts. Day shift scheduled work hours are 7:00am to 7:00pm. Night shift scheduled work hours are 7:00pm to 7:00am.\n
\n
Department Overview:Our 16-bed Vascular ICU/Burn/Trauma Unit provides care to adult medical and surgical patients requiring intensive nursing care; to include patients recovering from surgical kidney and pancreas transplants. Norfolk General Hospital is the only Sentara facility that performs kidney/pancreas transplants and complex vascular surgeries.\n
\n
\nThe Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.\n

- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) andone of the following is required :
\n - Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
\n - Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or
\n - National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or
\n - National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or
\n - Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, or
\n - Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or
\n - Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Physical Therapist (PT) program, or
\n - Current work experience within the last three years as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant.
