NEEDED: Phlebotomist
\nLOCATION: 1 Glen Ray Road, Alderson, West Virginia, 24910
\nSCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
\nQUALIFICATIONS:
\n- \n
- The Phlebotomist shall have valid certification to practice in the state of West Virginia as a Medical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist. \n
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. \n
- Must have 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist. \n
JOB DUTIES:
\n- \n
- Collecting clinical laboratory specimens (human blood) and body fluids and clinical specimens (i.e. stool, urine, sputum) for the AIC testing requested by a clinician. Collection of specimens will be accomplished via routine venipuncture and capillary procedures. \n
- Instructing patients on proper collection of specimens such as stool and urine for laboratory analysis. \n
- Processing and transporting specimen. Processing will include, but not be limited to, specimen centrifugation, spin down, mixing, preparing and packaging specimens for shipment. \n
- Handling infectious and bio-hazardous waste. \n
- Assisting laboratory staff in a variety of laboratory related activities, including but not limited to, ordering entry into a computerized laboratory information system, preparing laboratory related paperwork, storing and inventorying laboratory supplies. \n
- Maintaining required competency training as outlined by accrediting standards and local policy. \n
- Keeping accurate inventory of all needles and syringes used to replace sub stock inventory. \n
- Scanning of medical records and reports as needed. \n
- Assisting primary providers in the urgent care room when necessary and utilizing basic medical equipment. \n
- Conducting routine checks of equipment and temperature logs. \n
- Maintaining daily sick call list/call out. \n
