An OB/GYN Laborist is a certified obstetrician/gynecologist dedicated to providing inpatient care for women during labor, delivery, and the early postpartum phase. Unlike conventional OB/GYNs, laborists operate solely within hospital environments, offering round-the-clock coverage to guarantee prompt and secure obstetric services.

• Deliver direct inpatient obstetric care, encompassing labor management, vaginal and cesarean deliveries, as well as postpartum support.
• Conduct obstetric triage assessments and address obstetric emergencies as they arise.
• Work collaboratively with nursing personnel, midwives, and other medical professionals to ensure seamless, high-quality care.
• Provide coverage for local OB/GYNs who are unavailable during their patients' labor.
• Oversee unassigned patients or those lacking a designated obstetrician.
• Engage in quality improvement projects and assist in formulating labor and delivery protocols.
• Offer education and training to residents, medical students, and nursing staff as required.

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a four-year residency program in OB/GYN.
• Board certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Current state medical license and DEA registration.
• Additional training in high-risk obstetrics or maternal-fetal medicine is advantageous.

• Robust clinical expertise in labor and delivery, including emergency response capabilities.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to operate independently and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Dedication to patient safety and adherence to evidence-based practices.

• Generally shift-based (e.g., 12- or 24-hour shifts), including nights, weekends, and holidays.
