Job Summary and QualificationsThe Emergency Room Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-focused care by overseeing the daily operations and staffing of the unit. This role involves monitoring and assessing nursing care in line with established policies and holding staff accountable for clinical outcomes that align with facility goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong clinical identity by implementing evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and quality outcomes while ensuring compliance with care standards.
- Exhibit knowledge of human growth and development, assessment techniques, treatment options, and care for patients across various age groups.
- Oversee staffing needs and personnel management, including the recruitment, hiring, and training of new team members.
- Supervise patient care within the unit, providing ongoing support and expertise to staff.
- Perform duties in accordance with unit-specific care standards, validated through a competency skills checklist.
- Ensure optimal workflow by maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Coordinate all unit activities, including safety protocols, unit objectives, and departmental operations.
- Address patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and professionally.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to department staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient care delivery.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing or a nursing diploma is required; a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Tennessee or a compact state is required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant clinical leadership experience is required.
Our facility is a 270+ bed hospital located near downtown Chattanooga, offering a wide range of diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These include cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. We also feature a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program, OB-GYN services, and a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), along with behavioral health treatment centers for both children and adults.
