\n Cytotechnologist in South Carolina - Permanent Hire\n

Primary Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Microscopic evaluation of gyn, non-gyn, and FNA specimens
  • \n
  • Participate in continuing education, gyn and non-gyn CAP surveys, and annual proficiency testing event
  • \n
  • Maintain QA and QC documentation
  • \n
Work Schedule\n

Monday-Friday: Flexible start between 7am-8am

Essential Functions\n
    \n
  • Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological slides daily according to department protocols
  • \n
  • Records findings in computer system
  • \n
  • Records required data on daily screening and departmental logs
  • \n
  • Identify and correct problems affecting test performance
  • \n
  • Communicate section information/issues to appropriate individuals
  • \n
  • Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • \n
  • Assist in maintaining effective QA/QC programs
  • \n
  • Participate in continuing education and proficiency testing events
  • \n
  • Adhere to lab safety precautions and procedures
  • \n
  • Perform job responsibilities in alignment with industry best practices
  • \n
Educational/Training Requirements\n
    \n
  • B.S. or M.S in an Accredited Cytotechnology program
  • \n
  • Certificate in Cytotechnology (ASCP)
  • \n
  • ThinPrep Morphology Certification
  • \n
  • Hologic Review Scope Training
  • \n
  • Annual PT Testing
  • \n
Experience Requirements\n

Minimum of three years’ experience as a cytotechnologist in Gyn, Non-gyn, and FNA screening preferred

Skills and Abilities\n
    \n
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while maintaining a quiet zone environment
  • \n
  • Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English
  • \n
  • Ability to understand and use anatomic pathology and medical terminology
  • \n
Work Environment\n

The job may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, and/or toxic/biohazardous materials common in a laboratory environment. Safety training and personal protective equipment will be provided.
