Job Overview and Qualifications

In this role, you will take initiative while adhering to the policies, practices, and procedures established by professional nursing standards and approved by the hospital's Nursing Division.

Qualifications Needed:Educational Background:
  • Associate's degree, diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
Licensure and Certification:
  • A valid RN license in Texas or a compact state is mandatory. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications must be obtained within one year of employment or transfer to the department.
Experience:
  • Preferred candidates will have at least 5 years of critical care experience, with a solid understanding of cardiac medications and arrhythmias. Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring is beneficial but not essential. This position involves exposure to ionizing radiation, requiring the use of a lead apron and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Proficient in reading and writing basic English, with the ability to accurately convey physician orders.
  • Capability to lift over 100 pounds, with assistance from colleagues.
  • Understanding of sterile procedures is essential.
  • Strong listening, empathy, and responsiveness to the needs of patients, families, and both internal and external partners are required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
