Optometrist or Ophthalmologist – Veteran Disability Evaluations

Our organization is in search of a committed Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to join our team in conducting medical evaluations for U.S. Veterans as part of the disability benefits process through the VA. Become a part of our team to perform thorough eye examinations for Veterans. This position is a fulfilling, non-treatment, and non-determination role that focuses exclusively on assessments.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Carry out in-person disability evaluations for U.S. Veterans.
  • Examine and interpret electronic medical records through a secure online portal.
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Precisely document examination results and complete necessary VA forms.

Important: This position does not involve treatment or prescribing medications. Decisions regarding disability are made by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), not by the healthcare provider.

Position Overview:
  • Schedule: Part-Time, 3-4 days per week
  • Location: In-person role.
  • Caseload: Average of 4-6 Veterans per day.
  • Equipment Provided: Computer and all necessary documentation tools.

Qualifications:
  • Possesses an active and unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license.
  • Experienced in Visual Field Testing (VFT).
  • Comfortable with technology for reviewing records and completing documentation.
