Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital located in Virginia Beach on Intermediate Care Unit 4B.\n
\n
Hours/Shift:\n
\n
\nFull-time, dayshift. Approximately 7am to 7pm\n
\n
Department/Position Overview:\n
\n
\nThe Intermediate Care (IMCU) is a 24-bed unit located on the 3rdfloor at Sentara Princess Anne hospital. Our patient population consists of medical surgical patients, patients requiring Bipaps and Chronic Ventilators. We are also a Stroke Certified unit.\n
\n
\nIf you're looking for a fast-paced unit with a supportive team. We would love for you to apply. We are willing to work with students schedules who are currently enrolled in a nursing program.\n
\n
\nPatient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nurse.\n

Education\n
\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalent\n
\n
Certification/Licensure\n
\n

\n
• American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
\n
• Minimum requirements: Must have one of the following\n
  \n
  • Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
  \n
  • Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or
  \n
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or
  \n
  • National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or
  \n
  • Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, or
  \n
  • Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or
  \n
  • Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, or
  \n
  • Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

\nOne year of prior health care experience preferred.\n
