General Maintenance Technician

Job Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial facility equipment
  • \n
  • Conduct daily equipment and system inspections (shift rounds) to identify and document issues
  • \n
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including: \n
      \n
    • HVAC equipment
    • \n
    • Plumbing systems
    • \n
    • Electrical systems
    • \n
    • Fire/life safety systems
    • \n
    • Lighting systems
    • \n
  • \n
  • Repair and maintain: \n
      \n
    • Transformers
    • \n
    • Motors and motor starters
    • \n
    • MCC panels and circuits
    • \n
    • Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
    • \n
    • Dock equipment including overhead doors, dock levelers, dock locks, and seals
    • \n
  • \n
  • Perform general building maintenance tasks such as: \n
      \n
    • Painting
    • \n
    • Minor carpentry
    • \n
    • Plumbing repairs
    • \n
    • Leak and drain repairs
    • \n
    • Rebuilding pumps, valves, steam traps, and pneumatic devices
    • \n
  • \n
  • Complete administrative tasks including: \n
      \n
    • Parts ordering
    • \n
    • PO creation
    • \n
    • Vendor coordination
    • \n
    • Maintenance documentation within CMMS systems
    • \n
  • \n
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and facility personnel regarding project status and maintenance needs
  • \n
  • Assist with maintenance projects and oversee subcontractors as needed
  • \n
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment while following OSHA and lockout/tagout procedures
  • \n

Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • \n
  • Trade school training or additional technical education preferred
  • \n
  • Minimum 4 years of industrial or commercial maintenance experience preferred
  • \n
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems
  • \n
  • Valid drivers license required
  • \n
  • Forklift and aerial lift/scissor lift operation experience preferred
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety procedures, manuals, and technical instructions
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, email systems, CMMS software, and building automation systems
  • \n

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
  • \n
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools
  • \n
  • Experience disassembling and reassembling pumps, fans, fixtures, and HVAC equipment
  • \n
  • Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems
  • \n
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage workload efficiently
  • \n
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a maintenance team
  • \n
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • \n
  • Ability to support occasional weekend or non-standard schedules as needed
