- Schedule: Full-time, Night Shift (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), Rotating weekends and holiday coverage, with two to three on-call shifts per schedule
- Experience required with critical care patients, Hamilton ventilators, bedside bronchoscopy, nursery level II with NRP credentials, and emergency room respiratory therapy modalities
- Location: Good Samaritan Hospital - Mount Vernon
- Sign-On Bonus: A two-year service commitment is necessary, applicable only to external qualified candidates
- Both CRT and RRT candidates are encouraged to apply! *Note: The pay scale mentioned below applies to RRT only
Compensation Range: $29.46 - $44.19

Position Overview:
This role involves evaluating and providing care for patients requiring respiratory therapy, as well as administering prescribed therapeutic services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of treatment, developing a care plan based on their diagnosis.
- Deliver respiratory care services in line with physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
- Implement and oversee the patient care plan and equipment, monitoring and documenting patient conditions while performing advanced respiratory care techniques.
- Assess respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatments based on patient outcomes.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
- Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment, while also managing departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment, following established cleaning and sterilization protocols.
- Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.
Experience:
- No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly use speech for effective communication.
- Consistently stand and walk.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
- Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Utilize vision and depth perception for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as color differentiation.
- Employ smell to detect and recognize odors.
- Use hearing to receive oral communication and identify body sounds or alarms.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Occasionally assist in moving patients.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, grip, and perform repetitive movements with feet/legs and hands/arms.
- Occasionally drive.
- Rarely crawl or run.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications:
- State of Work Location: Illinois
- Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)

- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Or
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- And
