Core Responsibilities
\n- \n
- Actively diagnoses and treats our veterans under the direction and responsibility of a supervising physician. \n
- Examines patient for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders. \n
- Develops and implements patient management plans and assists in provision of continuity of care. \n
- Orders and performs diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, etc. and interprets test results for deviations from normal and provides patient notification and follow up care. \n
- Counsel patients on the use of prescription medications, educates patients, assesses mental health issues, and provides routine health maintenance. \n
- Evaluates patients’ records from medical providers outside the VA and works with these patients utilizing rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care. \n
- Completes any and all clinical reminders “due” at the time of each patient visit. \n
- Completes documentation of the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter. \n
- Complies with all VA guidelines in regard to appropriate and timely response to all patient request, alerts and notifications, consults, orders, lab results, and diagnostic studies. \n
- Complies with the VA formulary process and consult protocols. \n
- Complies with all VA guidelines in regard to appropriate and timely clinical documentation, including the completion of all encounters by close of business. \n
- Complies with all VA and company training requirements. \n
- Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission(JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance, and other related items. \n
- Remain focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes through the specified VA guidelines. \n
- Must provide excellent customer service to each veteran, both in person and over the phone, as well as to fellow colleagues and clinic visitors. \n
- Participate in the clinic’s outreach events to help support the clinic’s enrollment initiatives. \n
- Support patient enrollment and retention by providing guidance, when necessary, regarding scheduling, follow-up visits or nurse visits. \n
- Embrace and support new initiatives, whether clinical or operational. \n
\n Requirements/Qualifications\n

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioner (MSN required), including preceptorship \n
- Minimum two-year clinical experience in the last 4 years for a related primary care or ambulatory care setting. \n
- Must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA). \n
- Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment. \n
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency – AHA valid for two years, e.g.). \n
- Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration \n
- Strong computer and EMR skills \n
