\nOrganize and administers individualized age specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care
\nSupports philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing
\nPractices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, JCAHO requirements and other regulatory agencies
\nParticipates in patient teaching and discharge planning
\nParticipates in Unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities
\n\n
Section III: Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure
\nMust be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing Certified as an Advanced Practice nurse in pediatrics in the State of New Jersey
\nCPON certification within 1 year of hire, PALS certification, Chemotherapy certification
\nCurrent New Jersey RN licensure required
\nCompletion of all Orientation requirements of Saint Barnabas Medical Center
\nSuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs

Section 1: Job-Specific Requirements of Position
\nComplies with Medication Reconciliation policy
\nComplies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines,
\nDelegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associate's competence and patient care needs
\nDemonstrates proper procedure for care and maintenance of central lines: flushing, blood draws and dressing changes
\nDemonstrates the ability to recognize hematological and oncological emergencies, and take appropriate action when one occurs
\nDevelops, implements and evaluates a comprehensive plan of care for daily management of hematology/oncology patients: sickle cell crisis, chemotherapy, fever/neutropenia
\nEvaluates effectiveness, interventions and revises plan of care accordingly
\nImplements the policies of the hospital and Nursing Department
\nInitiates, maintains and monitors chemotherapy, observing for side effects and biohazardous exposure
\nManages pediatric conditions and illnesses, acute and chronic with medical collaboration
\nPerforms assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified tools
\nPerforms interventions in accordance with current policy and procedure, safety guidelines and infection control principles
\nPrescribes medications and therapy according to state of New Jersey and according to protocols sent forth in collaborative agreement
\nProvides accurate and concise information when recording inpatient patient activity in order to assure continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient visits
\nProvides patient/family education according and documents same
\nSets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals,
\nTransmits pertinent patient information to appropriate individual i,e, MD, supervisor, discharge planner, etc
\nUses an understanding of the principles of acute and chronic pain management to assess each patient's individual needs and provide appropriate and specific treatment and care
\nUses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specifient and care
\nUtilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care
