Job Description
Our organization is currently in search of a part-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner who possesses extensive knowledge in perinatal and neonatal care to join our dedicated team in Dubuque, Iowa.

The appointed Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will be tasked with the assessment, evaluation, and treatment of newborns under the guidance of pediatricians.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as the mid-level provider for newborns by:
- Evaluating, planning, and administering medical care under the supervision of the attending pediatrician.
- Providing accurate and concise reports to the attending pediatrician and maintaining problem-oriented documentation.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and plain x-ray films as necessary.
- Issuing appropriate orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products, as well as admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Participating in high-risk deliveries, performing resuscitation, and stabilizing patients.
- Preparing infants for transport to facilities requiring a higher level of care.
- Delivering newborn care, resuscitation, and stabilization for all necessary deliveries.
- Providing consultations to administrative, nursing, and medical personnel.
- Engaging in ongoing competency assessments to maintain advanced neonatal knowledge and skills among nursing staff.
- Contributing to nursing education and continuous competency evaluations.
- Pursuing self-development through readings, lectures, and formal educational opportunities.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures in the Birth Center as needed.
- Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program
- Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Iowa
- A minimum of two years of experience in a NICU setting
- Ability to work independently, as only one NNP will be scheduled per shift, covering the level II NICU, nursery rounds, attending deliveries, and performing circumcisions.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP
- Strong clinical knowledge, competencies, and analytical skills necessary for effective nursing and medical interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
