We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Combo Welder/Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing both welding and fitting tasks on various metal components, ensuring precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects, fabrication shop tasks, and onsite assembly, supporting our commitment to quality craftsmanship and efficient project delivery. Duties

    \n
  • Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine fabrication and welding requirements.
  • \n
  • Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes where applicable.
  • \n
  • Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and shop math to measure, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and structural components.
  • \n
  • Operate fabrication machinery such as press brake machines, plasma cutters, and pipe threading equipment to produce precise metal parts.
  • \n
  • Conduct rigging operations for lifting and positioning heavy components safely using cranes and forklifts.
  • \n
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of metal structures.
  • \n
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols on construction sites or within fabrication shops.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while ensuring quality standards are met or exceeded.

Experience

\n
    \n
  • Proven experience in construction site environments or fabrication shops involving metalworking tasks.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW welding techniques with a solid understanding of AWS standards.
  • \n
  • Hands-on experience with blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and mechanical blueprint analysis.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brakes, and rigging equipment.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to welding and fabrication processes.
  • \n
  • Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, ductwork assembly, pipe threading, and mechanical fabrication projects.
  • \n
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings accurately while applying shop math skills effectively.
  • \n
  • Prior experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment is preferred but not mandatory.
