A Paralegal improves attorney efficiency by providing administrative support in a law firm. Also referred to as legal assistants, these professionals play a crucial role in a law office, preparing court documents, maintaining attorney calendars, and typing court minuteS.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide secretarial support to one or more lawyers at the firm.
  • Edit and proofread all legal documents.
  • Maintain attorney calendar by scheduling conferences, depositions, and meetings.
  • Welcome clients and conduct initial screenings of new clients.
  • Organize all legal documents and ensure they are updated.
  • Ensure all court documents are in order and filed before deadlines.
  • Answer emails and phone calls, and when necessary, redirect calls.
  • Research and authenticate important case information.
  • Prepare different legal documents including appeals, motions, and petitions.

Requirements:

All candidates must

  • Have basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (work, outlook, excel).
  • Have experience in providing secretarial support.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to proofread and edit legal documents.
  • Have experience maintaining an attorney calendar and scheduling.
  • Be willing to work with clients directly, including welcoming clients and conducting initial screenings of new clients.
  • Be able to organize all legal documents and ensure they are updated.
  • Ensure all court documents are in order and filed before deadlines.
  • Answer emails and phone calls, and when necessary, redirect calls.
  • Have experience researching and authenticating important case information.
  • Be able to prepare legal documents including Petitions, Motions, and Objections.
