Primary Care Physician - Peaks Island Clinic
Job Description
We are looking for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician to become part of our Peaks Island Clinic, a fulfilling practice dedicated to one of Maine's most lively island communities. This full-time role (0.8 FTE) allows you to deliver comprehensive primary care to a close-knit patient base while fostering meaningful relationships with your patients.
Peaks Island, located just a brief ferry ride from Portland, is home to around 800 year-round residents and a vibrant seasonal population. Our clinic serves as a vital healthcare provider for island inhabitants, many of whom encounter transportation challenges and depend significantly on local primary care services. As the community ages and patient complexities rise, we seek a physician who prioritizes continuity, community-oriented care, and the chance to make a lasting difference.
Position Highlights- FTE Breakdown: 0.5 FTE clinical, 0.1 FTE precepting, 0.1 FTE faculty
- Clinic Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Practice Type: Outpatient-only with no inpatient duties
- Patient Panel: Manage an established patient panel with growth potential
- Comprehensive Care: Provide care across all ages, including preventive services, chronic disease management, and specialty service coordination
- Integrated Network: Collaborate within the MaineHealth primary care network, accessing specialty consultations and system resources
- Community Engagement: Build lasting relationships with patients in a closely-knit community
As part of our Family Medicine team, you will have the chance to engage in the education of Family Medicine residents and medical students. The Peaks Island clinic offers a unique rural and community-based training environment, allowing learners to experience continuity-focused primary care while addressing the distinct challenges and rewards of practicing in an island setting.

- Precepting Family Medicine residents

- Is Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine

Compensation packages may include recruitment bonuses, relocation assistance, productivity incentives, and quality incentives, based on eligibility. The annual base salary for this role is $257,500.
