Job Description

Our organization stands as the largest multispecialty medical group in Oregon and southwest Washington, comprising over 1,500 physicians and more than 300 administrative professionals dedicated to serving over 615,000 members. Owned and operated by physicians, we offer competitive salaries that are not tied to individual service provision. Our medical team includes board-certified specialists across more than 50 fields.

We are currently seeking applications for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Ophthalmologist to become part of our Central Interstate team in Portland, OR. You will collaborate with a compassionate and integrated group of physicians, along with supportive clinical and administrative staff, focusing on both Pediatric and Comprehensive Ophthalmology. Our Ophthalmologists engage in a holistic practice model, benefiting from a connected healthcare system that enhances efficiency. You will encounter a substantial surgical volume, addressing a wide array of ophthalmologic conditions. The extent of subspecialty work will depend on patient and team needs. In this role, you will primarily serve as the Pediatric Ophthalmologist, treating mainly pediatric patients, along with some adult strabismus cases and participating in general comprehensive call rotations. A half-day surgery block is scheduled for Tuesday mornings, and you will round weekly for Retinopathy of Prematurity at the Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center NICU.

We seek collaborative team members who prioritize patient care in a supportive environment. Our focus is not on financial metrics, allowing us to remove business pressures from patient interactions. Our patient-centric model fosters seamless and efficient care across various specialties. Utilizing cutting-edge technology, you will manage a higher acuity of disease while conducting routine exams, including all refractions, and will lead Pediatric patients referred by our Optometry partners.

What You Can Expect:

  • A shared call schedule among all providers, with general ophthalmology call averaging 4-6 weekdays and 4-5 weekends throughout the year.

  • Support from an experienced staff.

  • Access to a physician-friendly advanced Epic EMR system.

  • Opportunities for leadership roles within the medical group, if desired.

  • Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

  • Flexible scheduling options of 1.00 and 0.9 FTE (with prorated compensation).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Board Certified or Eligible in Ophthalmology.

  • Completion of fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology.

We Offer You:

  • A generous employer-funded pension and retirement contributions totaling 21% of eligible clinician earnings, with optional employee contributions.

  • Competitive compensation not based on a fee-for-service model.

  • A pathway for physicians to become shareholders in our organization.

  • Paid annual education leave along with an annual education allowance.

  • Comprehensive benefits package, including largely employer-funded medical and dental insurance premiums, life insurance, and paid leave.

  • Complete professional liability coverage at no cost, full reimbursement for board certification maintenance, continuing medical education reimbursement, and in-house CME opportunities.

  • Total Rewards value ranging from $497,621 to $652,000.

Current Hiring Incentives for This Role:

  • Relocation assistance of up to $15,000.

  • The annual salary for this position ranges from $411,900 to $502,300, taking into account the applicant's skills, qualifications, degrees, certifications, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary, we provide rich benefits that significantly enhance the total compensation package.
