Schedule: Friday to Sunday | 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Position Overview:We are in search of a proficient and self-sufficient Advanced Practice Provider (PA) to become a vital member of our Pulmonary Critical Care team in a nocturnist capacity. This role entails providing overnight, on-site support at our Davenport facility, focusing on the care of ICU patients and working closely with pulmonologists to deliver exceptional, continuous care.
This position is crucial for ensuring stability and continuity of care during nighttime hours, with a strong focus on independent clinical judgment.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver comprehensive overnight care for ICU patients at the Davenport facility.
- Manage ongoing treatment and cross-coverage for critically ill patients.
- React promptly to acute changes in patient conditions, including rapid responses and codes.
- Collaborate with on-call pulmonologists as necessary while exercising a high level of autonomy.
- Conduct procedures within the scope of practice (e.g., central lines, arterial lines, intubations, depending on experience and privileges).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Facilitate continuity of care through detailed handoffs to daytime teams.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Board certification as a Physician Assistant.
- Active or eligible for licensure in Iowa.
- Preferred experience of 1-2 years in ICU, critical care, or pulmonary settings.
- Proven ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in high-acuity situations.
- Strong procedural skills are preferred.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Three overnight shifts per week (Friday to Sunday, 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
