Position Overview:


Our nursing staff operates within collaborative settings alongside robust interdisciplinary teams, emphasizing a patient-centered care approach in a richly diverse environment. Under the guidance and general oversight of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse employs evidence-based practices in line with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and directives from the medical team. The registered nurse utilizes their expertise to create a care plan that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of both patients and their families.


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program.
Licensure and Certification: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Connecticut. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in the relevant clinical area.
Licensure and Certification: Certification in the clinical specialty. CNOR certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Fundamental understanding of nursing principles and practices. Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions. Effective communication skills to relay technical or complex information and provide guidance. Strong interpersonal abilities to interact with departments, staff, physicians, management, and patients. Capacity to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate flexibility, and work collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment. Commitment to exceptional customer service. Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieval.

PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Requires a high level of analytical capability to collect and interpret information from various sources. Must be able to respond appropriately to changes, challenges, problems, and emergency situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
