Position: Cytotechnologist\n

Work Schedule:
\n Monday to Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm

\n

JOB SUMMARY:

\n

The Cytotechnologist in this role is responsible for examining cells on glass slides to detect evidence of diseased conditions and pre-malignant and malignant cells.

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

\n
    \n
  • Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological slides daily following department protocols.
  • \n
  • Record findings in the computer system and maintain daily screening and departmental logs.
  • \n
  • Identify and rectify issues that may impact test performance or result reporting.
  • \n
  • Communicate relevant information to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
  • \n
  • Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshoot methods when required.
  • \n
  • Assist in documenting and maintaining effective QA/QC programs.
  • \n
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with security practices and regulatory guidelines for protecting sensitive data.
  • \n
  • Follow the Corporate Compliance Program and policies.
  • \n

Requirements:

\n

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

\n
    \n
  • Minimum of two years of college education and graduation from an approved School of Cytotechnology
  • \n
  • National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Cytotechnologist
  • \n
  • Valid Tennessee Cytotechnologist License
  • \n
  • Maintain continuing education for certification and licensure
  • \n
\n

Experience:

\n
    \n
  • Minimum of one year experience as a Cytotechnologist screening gynecological and non-gynecological slides preferred
  • \n
