Qualifications Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA) Education: Associate's degree in Surgical Technology Or a Certificate in Surgical Technology Work Experience: 1+ years of experience highly preferred. Responsibilities Preparation for surgeon specific operative/invasive procedure that's timely accurate, effective and efficient.\n

• Ensures instruments, equipment and suture are appropriate, complete and functional.
\n
• Sets up sterile field and is scrubbed prior to induction.
\n
• Sets up case so that another can step in back table and mayo organized.
\n
• Has appropriate "have available" items.
\n
• Uses resources wisely, avoids unnecessary opening.
\n
• Motions are fluid and not redundant.
\n
• Sets up time for a variety of case types is within acceptable range.
\n
• Aware of and prepares for case needs, i.e. two mayos.
\n
• Collaborates with surgeon prior to case and adjusts as necessary

Scrubs on simple to complex procedures for a variety of specialties.\n

• Able to "run mayo" independently.
\n
• Aware of surgeon's technique and preferences.
\n
• Adapts style to match surgeon and procedure.
\n
• Confident and competent during routing and emergency procedures.
\n
• Prepares for sequencing i.e. clamp cut tie.

• Anticipates and provides appropriate equipment so that attention need not be diverted from the operative field.

• Attentive to case, pays attention to subtle cues and responds appropriately.

• Proactively identifies needs; averts need to have someone run for things.
\n
• Observes technique of self and others and intervenes appropriately.

• Performs in first scrub, first assist, second scrub, second circulator.

• Performs case closing activities such as dressing application, transfer and turnover.

• Anticipates and provides appropriate and timely intervention for intraop case change.

• E.g. lap to open, uncontrolled bleeding, perforation.

Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $25.85per hour - $43.17per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
